Worth to buy a Mac for this app.
This app is perfect for me. I have become so accustomed to this system, I would be handicapped without it. I have a couple of work-arounds that I use: 1. Each billing cycle, I start a “new project”. This helps me track hours for that billing cycle. I name the project “Month - Client”. Within the project, I open a counter for each “file” I am working on. I know this won’t work for everyone, but it works for my purposes. 2. When I have billed, I rename the project “Billed - Month - Client”. This way, I know the project has been billed and I don’t miss anything.
This app is good. It does exactly what you’d want it to. However, there are a few small things I wish were different. If you are adding time you forgot to track earlier in the day, you have to enter the specific times. It would be nice to be able to simply enter “30 min” or “1 hr 45 min”, etc. Also, when adding time from earlier in the day, I’m used to TAB through the spaces. I wish the tabbing would continue from the “beginning” time to the “end” time, instead of having to click from one to the other. Again, small things. All in all, this app is great.
Simple to use, and does its job. Happy fellow.
Application crashed and I lost about a months worth of data. Look elsewhere.
My favorite part about this app is that the icon in the dock indicates how many hours/minutes I have been working for the day. It’s a simple, easy-to-use app that can export a record of my hours. It does everything I need it to do!
The biggest thing about this app is that it helped me see exactly how many hours I’m working and helped me feel like I was doing my part. There are other free apps that are simpler but didnt do what I wanted like this one does. It was worth the fee. I can also have very accurate records to show my boss at the end of the year.
I like to use this for tracking study time, but I’m not willing to pay $20 for the full version. If it were $5 dollars I would definitely consider it, especially when the iOs app comes out. Adjusting the times isn’t the most user friendly experience.
I have owned various time tracker apps over the 15+ years as a freelancer. Caato Time Tracker finally is the one that works best for me. I have many large projects and I want to breakdown the time spent on specific aspects of each large project. So far this app does that and more. Only a couple of things I would like to have but maybe it is already in the works. I would like to be able to make notes to the items, a long shot is being able to apply colors to each projects and lastly be able to use this from the menubar. Other than that, I would have paid double to for this app, so well worth the 20 bucks. :))
I have found this to live up to all that it says it will do and am very pleased. It saves me a lot of time at the end of the month when I have to do my billing. I would like to have the ability to attach notes to specific work items to help me when I am doing my billing. Hopefully this will be an improvement that is coming.
Having recently embarking on some consulting I needed an app that I could apply to different clients, sort out different tasks, start and stop, etc. This app is perfect for my small uses but I can see how it could apply to larger settings. The customer service has been exceptional and responsive. Highly recommend!
Until I can budget money for the full version I am continuing to get great results from the free version. I just have one “project” but make my divisions under that. It works great for my many small tasks I want to track. I will buy the full version soon as my work expands.
Version 1.1.4 is smooth as ever. My only wish is that they add use and sync between OSX and iOS. This way I’ll be able to track jobs on the go using my MacBook Air, iPad or iPhone. I’ve asked them this and was VERY happy with the answer: they’re working on it. It’ll be amazing!!
Caato Time Tracker does exactly what it says and does it well. No issues to speak of, everything is running great, I’m happy with this app. The reason for the 4 stars is that I feel there are some key features missing. MISSING: 1) Drag-n-drop: You cannot drag and drop Projects in any order you want 2) Completed: You cannot mark a project as completed, you can only “hide” it - and after you have a lot of projects in there, it’s not even alphabetized, so you have to really dig through 3) Notes: You can’t add notes to Tasks Otherwise, I’m glad I found it and would recommend it!
Using the free version, and it does a great job of helping me track my time for a few simple projects. One of the better ones i’ve run into, and it’s probably because it is actually really simple to use.
Great app just wish I could rearrange the order of the different tasks Im tracking.
reliable and simple.
I looked for a lot of different tracking apps, most were too complicated for me or fit people trying to manage complex time sheets. I just wanted to see how much time I spent doing email, working on a specific project, coding, etc, simple stuff. This app is perfect for that. I like the feature where you can just keep adding time to a project, and then view how much time you spent the past day, week, month, year, without having to make new projects all the time.
I downloaded this app after we instituted new time-tracking rules at work. I switch back and forth between projects ALOT during a normal day and was really dreading having to track every single project. This app makes it simple! Thank you.
Have been using the caato time tracker for about a week now. Very happy with the way it works. Easy to start/stop time tracking, and categorize time entries.
