Caato: Time Tracker & Work Log App Reviews

Great time-tracking app but needs to sync across all devices

I’ve been using the app for about three weeks now and have found it to do exactly what I need it to do, however, I really need it to sync across all my devices. I primarily use one desktop but would like to be able to also use my laptop. I have worked around this by using the free version on my secondary computer and then just am manually entering time into my pro version on the desktop at the end of the day. Definitely not ideal, but I can live with it for now. Features I like: -Multiple projects with multiple todos within each project -Ability to export my data to a spreadsheet for a specific project and specific timeframes -Easy to start and stop and navigate to other tasks

Works OK, but nagware

This app asks me to upgrade to the pro version almost every time I interact with it. Very annoying. If I knew of another app with this functionality, I would switch to it. That said, it does work fine. The interface is simple and I haven’t seen any issues with it. I just hate being nagged.

Awesome in its simplicity!

I like that it’s simple, just punch in, punch out, that’s it. It accumulates the hours as you go. Perfect for tracking how much total time I spend on a project.

I love this app & some usage tips

I provide tech support for a companys customers. I have over one hundered fifty customers that I time track in my free Caato time tracker. I am able to export a monthly Excel file to break down and sum the time I spend on each customer, where I turn that file in to the company for my billing. You can fully edit the names as well as the time entries, say like you forget to start or stop the time, you can go back and fix that. The free version works great as I am only working for one company. I had to do a little googling to figure out how to get the Catto export data files time value format to read and sum properly in Excel, but once I worked that out Im golden now. You can give it a day, month, year, or a custom date range for exporting your time data, and the export function provides what you would normally need. For the feature wish list I would ask them to add a search function that would parse the name field thats on the face of the application, as having over 150 user names and company listings makes it difficult to locate an older entry just by scrolling through such a big list. I would need that if x-company calls me again for support two months later and their entry is now burried down the list somewhere. The format I use is: "John Smith - Company Name". I did something to munge the preferences once and it was a giant pain trying to recover the application back the way it was. So I would recommend at the beginning you add a couple entries and some times and then make sure you learn how to recover the preferences properly to get it back to current working state. All in all this app works absolutly great for me and I have been using it five days or more a week for about six months now. Two thumbs up!

Does what it does very well...

This app does exactly what I want and does it well. While it’s not all that feature rich, it’s the only app I’ve seen for my needs that presents itself nicely with a convenient and logical interface. I’ve found it very useful. I don’t understand other reviewers comments regarding prompts to upgrade. To me an app is either useful or not, if it’s useful why not just purchase it.

Perfect for simple time tracking

I found this app when looking for a simple way to track and aggregate my time across work tasks, and so far it’s been great for that. My favorite features: - Being able to add subtasks. - Editable starting/ending times - Viewing aggregate time spent across customizable time periods. On the downside: - The UI could use refreshing. - The popups inviting me to get the pro version are annoying, but the pro version doesn’t offer enough benefit to me to be worth the $20. I would gladly pay $5 or even $10 to support the devs and get the popups to go away, but for $20 I’ll just deal with closing the dialog whenever it appears. Overall, this is a perfect app for basic time tracking, but if you need something more robust I might look elsewhere before spending $20 on the pro version here.

Update time is not working and you can not add manually time

Interface is easy but you can’t manually update or add time. Simply doesn’t work. Because of that reason. I am not upgrading and just deleting…

Easy to Use, Good Overall

Easy and Simple to use. Great for freelancers or work from home people like me, or if you just want to keep track of time spent on projects. Not advanced, but that is a positive in my book. Also exports time tracking numbers in Excel/Numbers.

Continuous Nags

The free version continuously nags you to upgrade to the $19.99 version. Several Times a day. I will be looking for something else. I would pay $5.00 for this app but $20 is ridiculous.

Perfect for freelancing

I use this tracker all the time for tracking my freelance writing hours. It’s the best I’ve found! Highly recommended.

Awesome! …But needs just a little more...

I love this app and I recommend it. I’ve tried several other time tracking apps and like this one the best, but it still needs a few things like syncing across devices would be a big deal and also, if you could go at least one more layer deeper with sub-times. I like to have clients in the root folder, then a particular job for them, and then subset of tasks within each job.

Extremely helpful way to stay on top of the time that you spend on multiple projects. Leaves a clear trail of what you did when. The only idea to add would be to be able to track two tasks simultaneously, while multi-tasking.
